Tubular Pulse Filters

Our tubular pulse filters incorporate industry leading designs in the areas of safety, versatility and flexibility.

Safety, Versatility and Flexibility Combined

Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters are designed with a focus on optimal air handling, effective filter cleaning, and high collection efficiency. This engineering approach helps deliver reliable dust collection performance while supporting safer and more efficient operation.

The system’s features include ladders and access platforms that exceed Australian occupational health and safety standards, with all serviceable items accessible from a top platform free of trip hazards. The compressed air system also includes a self-bleeding lockout ball valve for added safety.

Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters are designed for straightforward servicing, featuring a no-tools rebag system that helps minimise downtime during refurbishment and maintenance activities.

Offering flexibility across a range of applications, the Tubular Pulse filter range accommodates various inlet and outlet sizes and positions, bag fabrics, mounting structures, and casing materials. The baghouses can be configured as standalone units or in a cellular setup, allowing individual cells to be taken offline for cleaning or maintenance without disrupting the entire system.

What Is a Pulse Jet Dust Collector and How Does It Work?

A pulse jet dust collector, also known as a baghouse, is a filtration system that removes dust from an air stream by drawing it through a bank of vertical filter bags.

Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters are engineered pulse jet dust collectors designed around optimal air handling, superior filter cleaning, and excellent collection efficiency. The range prioritises personnel safety, ease of maintenance, and long-term performance through durable filter design and simplified servicing requirements.

Built to minimise ongoing ownership costs, Tubular Pulse Filters deliver reliable dust collection with reduced maintenance complexity and extended filter life.

As air passes through each bag, dust collects on the outside of the fabric while clean air continues through to the outlet. A periodic reverse pulse of compressed air is fired down through each bag in sequence, dislodging the collected dust cake from the fabric without stopping airflow to the rest of the system. The dislodged dust drops into a hopper below for removal, and the bag returns to service immediately.

Where Pulse Jet Dust Collectors Are Used

Pulse jet dust collectors are suited to industrial applications where reliable filtration and consistent airflow are required. They are best suited to fine dust and manageable coarse particles that will not damage filter bags.

Before selecting a system, dust type and particle size should be assessed to confirm suitability. Where heavier or more abrasive particulate is present, a Mideclone can be used as a pre-cleaner to remove larger particles before filtration, helping protect the downstream dust collector.

Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters have been applied across industries including:

  • Construction, where material processing and handling generate airborne dust
  • Manufacturing, where production processes require reliable dust filtration
  • Recycled waste processing and management, where mixed material streams can create complex dust loads

Beyond these applications, Tubular Pulse Filters can also be engineered for a wide range of dust collection requirements, depending on the material type, particle characteristics, and operating conditions.

Suitable applications include:

  • Cement and concrete processing
  • Grain, feed, and wheat handling
  • Chemicals and fertilisers
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Quarrying
  • Timber processing
  • Plaster, powders, and flour applications
  • Extreme fine particulate, such as carbon black
  • Silo vent filtration applications
  • Food processing environments

Each application requires assessment of dust type, particle size, and system requirements to determine the most appropriate filtration solution.

Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filter solutions have been applied across industrial dust environments, including projects for Boral and SKM Recycling in Victoria. Tubular Pulse Filters Compared to Other Mideco Filter Options

Tubular Pulse Filters and Economy Filters for compact dust collection are both pulse-cleaned baghouse collectors, but they suit different scales of operation. Economy Filters are designed to maximise filter cloth area within a minimal footprint, making them well suited to smaller installations, bin vent applications and sites where space is limited.

Tubular Pulse Filters are designed for larger projects and sites requiring superior filtration and efficient dust collection, providing a scalable dust collection solution for facilities with greater dust management requirements. Their configuration flexibility allows systems to be tailored to the scale and layout of the project, including standalone or cellular setups where appropriate.

For smaller sites or more compact dust collection requirements, Economy Filters provide a practical, space-efficient alternative. The key distinction is project scale: Tubular Pulse Filters are suited to larger dust collection projects, while Economy Filters are the more compact option.

Frequently Asked Questions

A pulse jet dust collector, or baghouse, removes dust from an air stream by passing it through filter bags, then dislodging the collected dust with a periodic reverse pulse of compressed air. Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters use this method to deliver continuous, high-volume dust collection for industrial sites.

Tubular Pulse Filters are generally suited to larger projects and sites where a more substantial dust collection solution is required. For smaller facilities or applications with more compact requirements, Economy Filters provide a space-efficient alternative. The right choice depends on the scale and requirements of the project, including the size of the site, the nature of the dust being managed, and the overall system design.

Pulse jet dust collectors are used across construction, manufacturing, and recycled waste processing and management, where industrial processes generate airborne dust that requires effective collection and filtration. Mideco’s Tubular Pulse Filters provide an engineered dust collection solution for larger projects and sites across these industries, helping manage dust generated through material processing, handling, and other industrial operations.

"Mideco provided effective routine servicing of our smelter Bat Booths, keeping the equipment operational and enabling personnel to safely utilise them for dust management. They are also very flexible with servicing coordination and always easy to contact."

Jake Dalla Valle
Asset Management Planner, BHP Olympic Dam

“The Bat Booth is actually unreal. We have got night shift workers, and it’s a lot faster and more efficient to use. Instead of relying on a simple handgun, this equipment really gets the job done quickly and effectively.”

Alex Stevenson
Leading Hand, Hanson Wolffdene Quarry

“The Bat Booth is very good. The maintenance guys use it the most because they get covered in dust and dirt during their work. It makes a huge difference in keeping them clean and comfortable. They really appreciate how effective it is for that purpose.”

John Taylor
Quarry Manager, Hanson Ferny Grove Quarry

“Bat Booth has been a great installation here at Glasshouse. It's allowed our guys at the end of the day, after they've done their maintenance and before they jump into their vehicles and head home to their families, to lock out of the MCC room and come into the Bat Booth and be de-dusted... to make sure that we're not increasing their exposure of respirable dust.”

Chris Wilson
Quarry Manager, Hanson Glasshouse Quarry

“We have used the Burnley Baffles successfully on several projects.”
