Background
Christmas island Phosphates is an Australian based company that operates on Christmas Island in the Indian ocean, it provides phosphate rock to primarily South East Asian markets.
Problem
In 2000, Christmas Island contacted Mideco to design, manufacture and install a dust management on their dryers.
Soon after installation they changed their process, the result being the air stream dropped through dew point inside the dust collectors. This combined with the Sulphur present as a result of the diesel fuel they use to heat the dryers resulted in the dust collector cases being subject to sulphuric acid attach constantly. In time they were eaten out from the inside and a replacement dust collector was required.
Solution
Because Mideco maintained a well-managed drawing register, a new dust collector was able to be manufactured to the old drawings. It was manufactured and shipped and installation was without challenges
