Bat Booth® has been officially recognised by NIOSH

Mideco is pleased to announce Bat Booth® is appearing in the latest National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Dust Control Handbook for Industrial Minerals Mining and Processing that has just been published.

The U.S. NIOSH included Bat Booth®’s design as one of the best examples of removing dust from personnel clothing thus helping prevent dust-related diseases, in particular those caused by silica exposure.

The Dust Control Handbook has been created with the support of the NIOSH Mining Program, whose mission is to eliminate fatalities, injuries and illnesses in mining, and the Industrial Minerals Association–North America (IMA-NA).

The handbook is written by safety and health specialists, industrial hygienists, and engineers, and provides the latest information on proven and effective control technologies that lower staff’s dust exposures at every stage of mineral processing. The ultimate goal of the publication is to facilitate the elimination of dust exposure related occupational lung diseases in mining.

Bat Booth®’s design is based on research conducted by OSHA and the Unimin Corporation.

Only two such dust control systems exist anywhere in the world with Mideco’s version being presented as the most advanced. Mideco’s system provides up to 80% dust extraction by using only compressed air and can be installed at outdoor or indoor sites with minimal space and maintenance requirements.

NIOSH is a government agency that doesn’t advertise brands but provides dust control recommendations through presenting the latest and most innovative technologies. As the most respected health and safety authority in the world, NIOSH leads the change in the workplace safety practices and policies. Their knowledge and experience are recognised by OHS bodies and specialists everywhere and its publications are often translated into many languages.

The Dust Control Handbook for Industrial Minerals Mining and Processing has been the essential guide on safety practices in mining since it was first published in 2012. This second, updated edition will continue to play a major role in addressing the issue of occupational lung diseases in the industry for years to come.

The handbook is the leading dust control publication and being included in it is an incredible privilege. This recognises Mideco’s unique contribution to the occupational health and safety with an innovative dust control technology that helps save lives and protect the environment.
